Jill Owens Interiors is based in Perth, Western Australia and offers a full scope interior design service specialising in high-end residential interiors. Jill’s design philosophy is to take the requirements and personality of the client along with the context of the building and turn those into a unique and stunningly designed space.
Jill recently completed this beautiful Georgian inspired renovation in Nedlands where she created a comfortable, classic contemporary 5 bedroom 4 bathroom home. Extensive joinery in all rooms has maximised storage space and celebrates good cabinetry as a feature.
The design brief was to create a home that was warm and inviting, and to design the interiors in keeping with the classical nature of the exterior of the home. The brief also sought to combine natural materials with modern technology. Jill found inspiration for the project from her experience renovating Georgian homes in Ireland, a perfect fit with her client’s personal taste, background and Pinterest folder.
The Kitchen
Jill shares, “At a very early stage we decided Antique Brass would be the finish for the door and window hardware and we wanted to introduce this as the main finish for the handles. Castella has a large range of products with this finish. We required a classical detail in the kitchen and pantry to compliment the bench-top and cabinetry door fronts. The Century Range is a classical design without being too decorative or overpowering.”
Jill says, “When you’re designing for a client it’s important to take into account all the occupants, and in this home the dogs are top priority, so they deserved their own place in the new kitchen”.
The Dining
“The home features bespoke cabinetry and in house designed furnishings. There is a strong sense of continuity throughout this home with both the furnishing style and colour palette which draws inspiration from the Native Australian Bush. Stone, umber and wheat are the main accents against the dark stained European oak floors”.
The touches of brass in the stone colour cabinetry paired with our Century handles in Old America, a beautiful dark bronze finish, creates a glamorous and moody atmosphere.
The Laundry
The laundry is an appealing space in keeping with the design of the rest of the house. Using stunning mosaic tile, a practical but beautiful fluted sink and dark grey cabinetry is a great example of function meeting design. The use of Castella Century Handles in Satin Nickel gives a cleaner look and stands out against the dark cabinetry.
The Home Office
Jill used the same dramatic blue for the walls and cabinetry and added luxurious finishes to create a relaxing ambience. Again, the space features our Century handles and knobs in Old America.
Jill shares her favourite element in the overall renovation, “Very hard to choose, but I do love the flow between all spaces and the balance and repetition between the rooms both with materials and finishes”.
“First and foremost, for me is how a home makes you feel, and I believe we successfully created a home that makes you feel warm and welcome as well as a little in awe at the finishes and detailing the builder and artisan trades achieved.”
