The farmhouse kitchen, designed by Lynette Yannakakis from Kaas Interiors, is a bold yet timeless masterpiece that beautifully blends contemporary and classic design elements. Featured in Kitchen & Bathrooms Quarterly Vol. 29, this kitchen showcases the versatility of mixing styles to create a cohesive, elegant space.
Lynette describes the project as: “A fusion of modern and classic elements that this kitchen elegantly combines through colour and pared-back traditional elements.”
The heart of the renovation is its striking navy and brass colour scheme, complemented by monochromatic black and white accents. This harmonious palette achieves a contemporary aesthetic that feels fresh yet pays homage to traditional farmhouse charm. The result is a kitchen that is both visually stunning and enduringly stylish.
Bold Design Meets Functionality
When the homeowners approached to Lynette, they sought a bold redesign that would maximise space while enhancing the character of their cottage-style home. The team delivered an exceptional solution by pairing navy shaker-style cabinetry with brushed brass accents, including Castella Gallant knobs and matching brass tapware. These details bring a luxurious warmth to the natural marble benchtops and the white fluted butler’s sink, ensuring the space remains timeless for generations to come.
To enhance functionality, Lynette removed an existing wall and installed a sliding door, transforming the layout to include a butler’s pantry and laundry. This clever design not only expands storage but also keeps the main kitchen area free for entertaining—a perfect blend of practicality and elegance.
