Our team was at Interzum Trade Fair 2023 held in Cologne, Germany between 9th – 12th of May, 2023 to explore the latest trends and innovations in the interior design industry. It was an enriching and inspiring experience, and our team gained valuable insights into the future of the sector.

The world of architecture and design is constantly evolving, and one area that has seen significant advancements in recent years is the finishing of architectural products. Painted finishes have become increasingly advanced, providing longer-lasting protection and opening new avenues for architects and designers wanting to be more creative for their hardware selection.

Australia has traditionally looked to the UK for inspiration when it comes to high-end products, with brass material being a popular choice for hardware. However, the use of aluminum and zamak is becoming increasingly popular in Europe across the entire spectrum of the market due to advancements in painted finishes. Of course, the additional benefit of these materials is the accessibility and cost. 

In terms of color trends, dark greys and bronze finishes continue to grow in demand. Green hues are currently in vogue, which lends itself directly to the broader use of painted finishes. These finishes and earthy tones can add depth and character to a building’s exterior or interior, all whilst establishing a connection with its natural surrounds. 

Clean lines are still very much in style, but there is also a growing appreciation for gentle curves and soft edges. For those seeking a more sophisticated look, linear knurled finishes or similar textures can add a touch of elegance and depth.
